Organized by AGRODEP (African Growth and Development Policy Modeling Consortium), IFPRI, and DSSAT Foundation, a DSSAT Training Workshop 2014 was provided at the IFPRI West Africa Office in Dakar, Senegal, on 7-11 April 2014.
Thirteen AGRODEP members from seven countries, mostly African institution-based agricultural economists, were trained to learn the background and science of crop system modeling, preparing the model input data and understanding model outputs, and the operation of DSSAT v4.6 and its applications.
After the workshop, AGRODEP opened two “Seed Funds” Call for Proposal – in which trainees can request for a small grant to develop a research project involving the crop modeling applications they learned in the training program. DSSAT Foundation will help reviewing the proposals.
