DSSAT Mailing List
A mailing list for DSSAT users and others interested in crop model development, crop model applications and decision support systems has been established at the University of Georgia and is being mirrored at Google Groups. Please feel free to share general questions, concerns, successes, messages and thoughts related to DSSAT and its application to the DSSAT Listserv. We currently have more than 20,200 unique e-mail addresses on the DSSAT listserver for people who are interested in crop modeling and decision support systems. - Contribute to the special issue on Resilience to droughtby in silico Plants Editorial Office on August 18, 2025 at 10:23 pm
As part of Interdrought VIII, in silico Plants is publishing a special issue dedicated to the latest advances in modeling approaches that contribute to understanding and improving crop resilience under drought and other related abiotic stresses. This issue will feature selected contributions presented at the Interdrought VIII conference and external contributions highlighting innovative computational methods, genotype-by-environment-by-management (G×E×M) interactions, ecophysiological simulations, and trait-based modeling. We are particularly interested in studies that combine modeling, envirotyping, ideotyping, phenotyping, and genetics to enhance crop resilience under water-limited conditions, as well as approaches that integrate 'omics data (e.g., genomics, phenomics, metabolomics, enviromics) and systems biology [...]

- Climate-Agriculture Session at AGU Annual Meetingby Jonathan M. Winter on July 23, 2025 at 3:57 am
Dear Colleagues,We encourage you to submit an abstract to session GC069 of the 2025 AGU Annual Meeting: Implications of climate change for global agriculture – impacts, adaptation, mitigation. We invite submissions that advance our understanding of how climate change affects agriculture and food systems worldwide, but also how they can be part of the solution. This session emphasizes climate-related impacts, as well as potentials and challenges associated with adaptation and mitigation. We are interested in short- to long-term crop productivity responses, extreme weather event impacts, climate change impact attribution, changes in inter-annual variability, effects on crop nutritional quality, climate [...]

You'll find the session listed under the Global EnvironmentalChange section, and the abstract for the session is included below.* [...]
- Major update to the ICASA Data Dictionaryby Jeffrey White on July 15, 2025 at 6:19 pm
Last Friday, a major update to the ICASA Data Dictionary was posted to theDSSAT GitHub site: https://github.com/DSSAT/ICASA-DictionaryMajor changes include:1. Breaking the IDD spreadsheet into a series of CSV files. This allowsusers to view the content of sheets online. (GitHub cannot display *.xlsxfiles).2. Introducing a procedure to create the IDD as a spreadsheet every timethe CSV files are updated.3. Introducing a variable ID to avoid problems with variables having thesame name.4. Removing many identifier variables that were introduced for an AgMIPdatabase but are not really a part of the standards. [...]

- Towards drought resilient, profitable and sustainable horticultural systemsby Matthew Harrison on June 18, 2025 at 5:51 am
Australia is the driest inhabited continent on the planet. What better place to do a PhD on drought? The University of Tasmania seek applications from candidates with an interest in improving drought resilience of the horticultural sector. The PhD will address questions including:1. What practices enable drought resilience in horticulture?2. Are practices that enable drought resilience in apple and cherry orchards conducive to profit when rainfall returns to 'normal'?3. What impact does drought resilience have on greenhouse gas emissions?4. How is apple, cherry and wine grape quality impacted by drought? [...]
