During last week of July the 19th “Hybrid” DSSAT Development Sprint was held, hosted by Dr. Upendra Singh and Dr. Willingthon Pavan at the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. In-person participants included six representatives from the University of Florida and three representatives from IFDC, while there were around 18 on-line participants from the US, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Jordan, Germany, Costa Rica, Kenya, United Kingdom, Spain, and South Africa. This was already the 19th DSSAT Development Sprint, a one-week long crop modeling hackathon in which we collaborate on advancing the science of the crop models, data preparation and analytics, and the development and improvement of modeling tools and application programs. During this Hybrid DSSAT Sprint great progress was made on finalizing a new release of DSSAT Version 4.8 as well code improvement of the Cropping System Model (CSM) and updates of the various tools and utility programs in DSSAT.
The next DSSAT Development Sprint will be held at the University of Florida during January 2023.
