15th Hybrid DSSAT Development Sprint, July 26-30, 2021

During the last week of July the first “Hybrid” DSSAT Development Sprint was held, hosted by Dr. Upendra Singh and Dr. Willingthon Pavan at the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. In-person participants included five representatives from the University of Florida and three representatives from IFDC, while there were around 18 on-line participants from the US, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, South Korea, Germany, Spain, and South Africa. This was already the 15th DSSAT Development Sprint, a one-week long crop modeling hackathon in which we collaborate on advancing the science of the crop models, data preparation and analytics, and the development and improvement of modeling tools and application programs. During this Hybrid DSSAT Sprint great progress was made on finalizing the new release of DSSAT Version 4.8 as well code improvement of the Cropping System Model (CSM) and updates of the various tools and utility programs in DSSAT.

The next DSSAT Development Sprint will be held at the University of Florida during the week of January 10-14, 2022.

We appreciate the continued interest and support provided by the DSSAT community. The number of download requests for Version 4.7 has reached 13,625 from over 179 countries as of July 26, 2021!
