International Workshop on Decision Support System for Agro-Technology Transfer for Improving Standards of Research held from March 4-6, 2024 at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan

The Institute of Agronomy, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Pakistan organized a three day workshop entitled “International Workshop on Decision Support System for Agro-Technology Transfer (DSSAT) for Improving the Standards of Research” from March 4 – 6, 2024. Speakers and presenters included Prof. Dr. Ir. Gerrit Hoogenboom, University of Florida; Prof. Dr. Syed Aftab Wajid, University of Agriculture Faisalabad; Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan; and Dr. Ghulam Abbas, Agriculture Extension Department.

Participants were scientists from various universities across different provinces of Pakistan representing The Agriculture University Peshawar; Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam; University of Poonch Rawlakot; Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology; Rahim Yar Khan; Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan; Punjab University Lahore; The Islamia University Bahawalpur; and University of Agriculture Faisalabad; research organizations including the Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan; the Agronomic Research Station Khanewal; and National Research Center of Intercropping; scientists from the Extension Wing of Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab; and scientists from various industries, including Power Crop Sciences; Alpha Seed Corporation; Vital Agri. Workshop participants and local speakers with the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (FAST) and the Vice Chancellor, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU). The Dean FAST and Vice Chancellor BZU distributed certificates among the participants.

The training workshop aimed to equip the participants with advanced skills in agricultural decision-making using DSSAT, data analysis, and scenario development. The dedication of the organizers and trainers significantly enhanced the learning experience highlighting BZU’s commitment for advancing agricultural education and research for sustainable development for ensuring food security under climate change scenarios.

The Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan provided local hospitality including accommodation in the University Guest House along with local transport facilities for the participants.
